Within five weeks this summer, Hamilton County juries convicted Jamal Adams, Mark Caslin and Lawrence Goodine of murder charges carrying life sentences.
Assistant District Attorney Paul Moyle served as lead prosecutor in all three unrelated cases, which included a table-flipping verdict reaction, the 2019 Bayberry Apartments double homicide and a strangulation prosecutors said was manipulated to look like an overdose.
“We try to always be ready to go on all of our cases,” Moyle said in an interview, “and sometimes that means that you just have to put the rest of your life on hold.”
The courts did not deliberately schedule trials back-to-back, he said. Delays and availability constraints pushed the cases into the same stretch, and the state wanted to avoid further delays for the victims and defendants.
“Sometimes, you just have to, well, just suck it up,” Moyle said.
