Marion, Franklin link with drug task force

JASPER, Tenn. — Officials with Marion County, Franklin County and the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force are working on a deal to join forces in their fight against illegal drugs.

Marion County commissioners unanimously authorized county Mayor John Graham to sign the proposed criminal interdiction agreement at their December meeting.

After the contract is endorsed by Franklin County leaders and the drug task force, which officials expect to take place this month, the entities will be able to share resources when drugs are involved in individual cases.

Marion County Commission Chairman Gene Hargis, also the county’s chief detective, said the agreement is good for all involved.

“Basically, it’s an understanding that we will have officers available to go into Franklin County to help when they need it,” he said.
