Dalton police are searching for a man who used a counterfeit $100 bill at the Los Reyes restaurant on Cleveland Highway.
About 1 p.m. on May 1, a suspect paid for his meal with a legitimate $10 bill, then asked for change for a $100 and received five $20 bills from the cashier before leaving the restaurant, said Bruce Frazier, spokesman for the Dalton Police Department.
Later the cashier realized the bill was counterfeit and called police. Mr. Frazier said the counterfeit note appears to be a $5 bill with the ink washed off, with a $100 printed on the paper.
The suspect was described as a heavyset white male in his 50s, with gray hair and a salt-and-pepper goatee. He was recorded on the restaurant’s video surveillance system, which shows him wearing a white T-shirt with the words “Word Hard, Pray Hard” printed on it and dark shorts, Mr. Frazier said.
The suspect was recorded on surveillance leaving in a black two-door car, he said.
