On an “off” night from the field, Whitney Hood still led the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team to its fourth straight win. But the Southern Conference’s leading scorer had a lot of help.

Hood scored a game-high 18 points and was one of four Lady Mocs in double figures at the end of their 72-63 win over UNC Greensboro on Saturday at McKenzie Arena.

“I think we’re just on a mission right now, trying to get things done,” said Hood, who also grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds.

UNC Greensboro (8-6, 5-1) was the lone SoCon team without a league loss heading into Saturday’s game, but the Lady Mocs (7-8, 4-2) took control early and answered every Spartans challenge.

The Spartans opened the scoring with a 3-point basket, which was followed by a 14-1 UTC run. The Lady Mocs led 37-31 at the half, and the margin got as high as 13 points in the second half.
