Emmit-Nershi BandIt almost always helps a new bluegrass band get noticed a lot quicker when they have great vocals to go along with the top-notch picking. It also doesn’t hurt if the two founding members of the band are already pretty well known in the bluegrass family.
If you are at all familiar with the jam band music scene, then chances are you have heard of the Coloradobased bands String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon. Since both bands have cut back on their constant touring, front men from both bands, Drew Emmitt and Bill Nershi, decided to join forces and get back to their roots with a bluegrass band.

However, their acoustic ensemble can be described as anything but straightforward bluegrass. With a mix of jazz, Latin, rock-n-roll and country, this band definitely brings an exploratory twist to their style of bluegrass music. After just performing in the Chattanooga area back in late April, the band will bring their fiery bluegrass show back to town Saturday, Oct. 1 for the 5th annual 3 Sisters Bluegrass Music Festival by the waterfront at Ross’s Landing.
