How Walker County will grow is one of the main topics as a lifelong North Georgia project manager and a retiree with a background in electrical cooperatives vie for an open County Commission seat.

Gene Wilson and Jamey Hulsey are on the Republican primary ballot. Early voting starts April 29, and the primary is May 21. The winner will have no challenger in the Nov. 5 general election.

The District 4 Walker County Board of Commissioners position covers the east and southeast portion of the county and is the largest district. Robert Stultz has represented the district since early 2021.

In a phone call, he said he decided not to run for another four-year term to have more time for family and other projects.
