Silverdale Baptist Academy’s Jaxson Carsten proved it’s possible to lead from the end of the line.
The senior defensive end was unstoppable in the first half Friday night during the Seahawks’ 28-7 home win against Chattanooga Christian School, and the dominant performance helped Silverdale improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in TSSAA Division II-AA East Region play.
Carsten’s speed rush and physicality off the edge was too much for the Chargers (1-3, 0-2) as the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder forced a fumble with his third sack of the game. The ball was recovered by junior Jack Harris to set up the Seahawks’ second scoring drive with 6:09 left in the second quarter.
Silverdale’s defense picked up right where its left off a week earlier, when the Seahawks shut out Knoxville Webb in the fourth quarter and rallied to win their region opener.
