NORMAN, Okla. — There isn’t much mystery when it comes to the key to stopping Oklahoma’s offense.
Sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold leads the Sooners through three games in both passing and rushing.
“He’s a dynamic quarterback who you have to contain,” Tennessee fifth-year senior defensive end Dominic Bailey said earlier this week. “You can’t let him get outside the pocket. We’ve got to stay in our rush lanes and not let him get too much on his feet.”
Arnold has the attention of the No. 6 Volunteers as they prepare to take on the No. 15 Sooners on Saturday (7:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC) inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder from Denton, Texas, opened this season by throwing four touchdown passes during a 51-3 dismantling of Temple.
In last Saturday’s 34-19 downing of Tulane, the son of former Ringgold High School and Wofford College running back Todd Arnold rushed 14 times for 97 yards and had a 47-yard gain.
