Organizers of the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival slated for this weekend said the three-day event is geared to appeal to families and not just car enthusiasts.

“We wanted it to be a family affair,” said Byron DeFoor, the Chattanooga developer who is the driving force of the automotive gathering in the city. “Chattanooga is a great backdrop for that.”

Several hundred classic cars and thousands of auto enthusiasts are expected to show up in the city for the fifth annual festival Friday through Sunday.

The festival’s focal point is the West Village part of downtown, which DeFoor and his brother, Ken, have developed over the past decade.
