Humans aren’t the only international transplants who now call Chattanooga home. Plenty of animals come to us from foreign lands as well. Take the penguins at the Tennessee Aquarium, for instance — such as a macaroni penguin named Shamrock.

But Shamrock isn’t just any macaroni penguin — she’s a 30-year-old legend with a personality as striking as her one-of-a-kind hairdo.

As the oldest macaroni penguin at the Tennessee Aquarium, she wears her crest like a crown — half yellow, half black and entirely unique. She has a love for head scratches and a showbiz background that makes her stand out even among her charismatic peers.
