Happy Father’s Day weekend, friends.

And yes, the U.S. Open is a gift for all golf-watching dads everywhere.

Let’s handle our business.

› Rushmore of cookies — Chocolate chip, shortbread, peanut butter and sugar cookies.

› Rushmore of NFL players who went to Notre Dame — Montana, Bettis, Alan Page, Paul Hornung.

› Rushmore of Black actresses — Cicely Tyson, Halle Berry, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett.

› Rushmore of college basketball announcers — Analyst division is Dickie V, Al McGuire, Bill Raftery and Joe Dean; play-by-play is Enberg, Nantz, Mike Tirico (who is on almost every list in these discussions because he’s that good) and Dan Shulman.

To the mailbag:

From Drew

Jay,

I am so disappointed in you. The guy that got me looking at “what happened on this day” list forgot to honor the classic Ferris Bueller, which was released (June 11) in 1986.

I say it’s (John) Hughes’ best movie. What about you?

Drew

My bad. Complete and total failure.

I remember seeing Ferris in theaters the summer before I turned 16. What a classic.

As for Hughes, picking a “best” is borderline impossible.

I mean, this list has “Mr. Mom,” which Hughes wrote as just his 10th best and “Weird Science” which is wicked underrated as 11th.

My personal favorite is actually “Uncle Buck.”

His most iconic has to be the “Breakfast Club,” right?

Most popular has to be “Home Alone.”

But best, probably “Breakfast Club,” but so many great options here, and Ferris certainly is in the conversation.

From Tom

And here’s a mailbag question for Jay: I watched a GC discussion last night on the coming “roll back” on the golf ball, but they also had some commentary on equipment changes? What’s your take at this point?

Tom

Such a great question. I have always been indifferent on the curl back the equipment conversation.

Until Thursday, when Bryson DeChambeau hit a 307-yard 5-iron off the tee at Oakmont.

I mean, goodness, what in the name of Sam Snead is that?

I think there are options for some of each.

Let the manufacturers have their show stuff in terms of clubs and balls at everyday tournaments, but find some uniform standards at some of the bigger events.

While there will be blowback from some of the bigger stars who earn even bigger checks from endorsement deals from the TaylorMades and Titliests of the game, the only place that can make a strong statement in this regard likely is Augusta National.

I think it’s worth a try because while I will never play like any of those guys, hitting a 307-yard 5-iron is not only beyond the realm of imagination, it is something that will make so many courses downright laughable.

From Michael

Jay, not sure if you saw this before you started the mailbag but if you had to draft former athletes to be wanted for murder, Antonio Brown is high on Kiper’s board, right?

Michael,

Such a great question, and I love the draft, you know this.

I hate attempted murder, though, so there’s that.

Here’s the story about Antonio Brown, and yes, he would grade very highly if Mel Kiper ranked prospective attempted murders among former athletes.

As for the rest, man, Mike Tyson has to be there.

And Lenny Dykstra.

Didn’t Gilbert Arenas pull a gun out of his bag over a card game while he was in the NBA?

If Jose Canseco’s came across the ESPN ticker with some serious charges after it, would anyone be surprised?

Who else?

From a slew of you

Will you do your overrated/underrated on …

Gang,

You guys asked for a slew, so I will address them individually.

› UNC — a tad underrated but over-reported. Bill Belichick’s structure works. And the schedule is amazingly doable.

› Clemson — underrated, even with minus-odds to make the college football playoff. This is the best team Dabo Swinney has had since Dabo was Dabo before the portal. Cole Klubnik is a boss.

› Florida — underrated, by more than a smidge. Florida’s rankings by positions according to preseason magazine guru Phil Steele reveal a team that will contend to get to Atlanta and to the CFP. The questions about Billy Napier loom, and while I don’t think his job is in jeopardy per se, the expectations are elevated and the stakes will reveal his acumen.

Any others?

Have a great weekend, friends — especially you dads out there.
