The trial of a man who is accused of fatally stabbing his then-girlfriend’s brother began Tuesday in Hamilton County Criminal Court.

Edwin Aldo Mendez-Perez, 24, is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated burglary.

Perez is accused of killing Rosalio Gomez-Gutierrez, 28, during the early morning hours of Nov. 26, 2023.

“‘Your brother won’t exist after today,'” Hamilton County Chief Homicide Prosecutor Paul Moyle said, quoting Perez, during opening statements.

Those were the words Perez chose to say to his then-girlfriend when he showed up at her window that day, Moyle said.
