Over 14 years after an Ooltewah woman was beaten to death and left in a rental home, the man accused of killing her is expected to stand trial in Hamilton County.
A warrant was issued for Jose Angel Hernandez, 47, in 2011 in connection with the killing of Jeimy Baquero, but authorities were unable to find him. They believed he may have fled to Mexico.
Hernandez was indicted on a first-degree murder charge eight years later.
He ultimately was taken into custody last year by Mexican authorities in Matamoros, Mexico, turned over to the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Mexico City and brought to the Hamilton County Jail, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office previously said.
