The Chattanooga Police Department has announced a new patrol vehicle pattern designed by one of its officers.

Several units with the new design, which is intended to be more modern and sleek, are already on the road, the department said in a New Year’s Day Facebook post introducing the new pattern. The new pattern drops the white wrapped doors for an all-black aesthetic, with gray lettering and a tri-star design that echoes the Tennessee state flag.

The updated design will be applied to all new vehicles, a spokesperson with the department, Heather Holley, said by email. Over the coming months, the police will be analyzing the cost to retroactively apply it to the current fleet.
