Hamilton candidate forum planned for March 26
A forum for candidates in the May primaries is being organized by the local chapters of the League of Women Voters and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
In a news release, the groups said all qualified candidates have been invited to participate in the March 26 event, which will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, 1734 E. Third St. The moderator will be retired educator Edna Varner, who now works for the Public Education Foundation, the release states.
Candidates will deliver opening and closing statements and take questions from the public at the nonpartisan forum.
“The goal of this forum is to provide a venue for public education about candidates’ platforms, enabling voters to make informed decisions. The public is urged to attend and participate in getting to know candidate platforms, goals, and qualifications,” the release states.
