Fearing ICE in small-town Tennessee

Gov. Bill Lee visited Shelbyville on March 6 for a Chamber of Commerce coffee to brag on the small businesses that fuel Tennessee’s economy.

Does he know what the Trump administration’s immigration policies he has approved of will do to Shelbyville? Does he know that Latino businesses are the backbone of Shelbyville’s economy?

Does he know there are over 50 Latino businesses in Shelbyville? Does he know that if he goes “Minneapolis” on Shelbyville it will become a ghost town, and another black mark will be added to the string of black marks known as Shelbyville’s racist history?

I was a part of an anti-ICE group that visited these businesses late last summer to warn them about what is coming. I hope the white business leaders at the Chamber coffee will take Gov. Lee off to the side and fill him in so we can all rest easier.
