With about three weeks to go before the May 5 primary election, the 14 candidates vying for five seats on the Hamilton County school board have collectively raised nearly $70,000.

As of April 10, the first quarter filing deadline, Republican candidates have, on average, narrowly outraised their Democratic counterparts — $4,625 to $4,447. That continues to hold true when only including the candidates in one of the four contested primaries, which account for roughly two-thirds of the total funds donated to school board candidates.

Early voting begins Wednesday and runs through April 30.
