An attorney representing a Chattanooga singer charged with first-degree murder following his 4-year-old nephew’s drowning said Tuesday the death was not intentional.

Deshundre Vinson, 22, appeared for his first court hearing following his Sept. 2 arrest. According to Vinson’s arrest report, he was babysitting Aug. 16 when the 4-year-old fell into an apartment complex pool and spent about nine minutes underwater.

Vinson is listed as a member of CitiLimitz, a Chattanooga R&B trio that appeared on “America’s Got Talent” in 2025 after going viral on TikTok, according to the group’s website.

Not all of the facts available to prosecutors were in the arrest report, according to Vinson’s defense attorney, Gerald Webb. He said after the hearing he wanted people to reserve judgment as the state continues to investigate.
