Ford: Maybe it’s not a mom fail

I’m pretty sure every mom has had an “Epic Mom Fail” moment. You know the ones — the moments we hope our kids forget, the moments when we wonder if our kids will be in therapy one day because of us.

When my daughter was seven, she was a competitive gymnast. She practiced hard, spent countless hours at the gym and was barefoot most of the time.

Her feet were not your typical seven-year-old-girl feet. They were rough, a little callused and usually covered in dirt and chalk. So, when she showed me a little “bump” on her foot, I assumed it was a blister.

My mantra is, “Suck it up, buttercup.” I told her to leave it alone, and eventually it would go away.

Two weeks later, Annabeth and I had a girls’ day. She wanted coffee and a pedicure, so we settled into our massage chairs with our tasty drinks and relaxed.
