There’s a reason they call it special teams: It’s for special moments made by unlikely heroes.

Just ask Silverdale Baptist Academy senior kicker Ethan Givens.

With less than a minute to play in a TSSAA Division II-East Region road game Friday night, Givens — in his first year playing for the Seahawks — kicked a 27-yard field goal to defeat rival Notre Dame, 34-31.

“It’s such a surreal feeling,” Givens said. “It’s not just for me. It’s for the guys around me. That’s what is best about it — playing for them. I have these guys around me encouraging me, believing in me, and when you have a team like that, you have got to do it for them.”
