All you can eat in the Scenic City, A-Z
Toddlers are easily entertained, says Lauren Hall, president and CEO of First Things First. "Everything is novel to them," say says, which is why screens work so well to distract them. "They're attracted to all the new lights and sounds."

Looking to get a couple of beers and some food with the kids in tow? While some establishments are strictly adults-only, Chattanooga has a bevvy of family-friendly options where you and your children can eat and drink without getting side-eyed by the management or other patrons. Here's where to head when you bring the family out on the town.

Proudly from the Mississippi Delta, Melanie Mitchell Tucker is a retired art teacher who moved to Lookout Mountain to be closer to her grandchildren — the inspiration behind much of her work.

Delicacies like butternut squash grit cakes and braised beef short rib tostadas paired perfectly with bubbling champagne at Preserve Chattanooga's Best Cellars wine-tasting benefit event.

Guests at the Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall blended the sparkle of diamonds with the grit of denim, celebrating the community's philanthropic health care workers.

Bonnaroo passes, the first pitch to a Chattanooga Lookouts game and a year's worth of cake were all auctioned off to the sound of clashing cymbals at this year's Not So Silent Auction at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Lucky attendees enjoyed food, played games and bid on over a hundred items, with proceeds benefiting Northside Neighborhood House, a 100-year-old local nonprofit providing education and assistance to residents north of the Tennessee River.

Senator Bo Watson auctioned off items under the Friends of Special Children's distinctive, building-sized white tent for their 19th annual ABC (All aBout Children) event at Signal Centers. Over 400 people enjoyed dinner from Giardino Italian restaurant and beer from Five Wits Brewing Company. Thanks to the organization's many donors and sponsors, they exceeded their fundraising goals for this year's project, which is to build a Children's Adventure Trail that all kids, regardless of ability, can enjoy.

Soon it will be time to sing "Auld Lang Syne" and ring in the new year.

Santa Claus (aka Sonny Gobert, 80) and Mrs. Santa Claus (Janet Gammon, 72) are technically just volunteer Santa's helpers, but they are quickly becoming a beloved pair at the North River Family YMCA on Hixson Pike.

'Tis the season to string the lights. Trim the tree. Deck the halls. But what exactly that entails is something different for everybody.
