Opinion: Tennessee’s Right to Try law puts patients first
Earlier this year, I was proud to work with Beacon Impact, the advocacy partner of the Beacon Center of Tennessee, to sponsor SB282: The Right to Try for Individualized Treatments Act, or Right to Try 2.0. This law will provide terminally ill patients and their families with more options designed specifically for their DNA. Strong bipartisan support in the General Assembly allowed Tennessee to join other states, including Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and Arkansas, in enacting this important law. This legislation not only strengthens Tennessee's leadership in health care and innovation but also provides renewed hope to those who need it most.

Opinion: New law gives Tennesseans more medical options
Unfortunately, and too often, government regulations or other external factors hinder a patient-centered focus on care, including the right to try to save one's own life. The Rant
Thanks to all first responders who helped with last week's flooding; videos and photos and stories are amazing. If you can, donate to Red Cross; help a neighbor!

Opinion: No one should lose their life in jail, especially those still awaiting trial and presumed innocent
The Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center is one of the most dangerous places a person can be, a fact Sheriff Austin Garrett himself has publicly acknowledged. Its death rate is more than twice the national average, and behind that statistic are neighbors, friends and family members whose lives ended far too soon, often in ways that were preventable.

Opinion: Trump plays Russian roulette with Putin
In 2016, Democrats were trying to frame Donald Trump in the Russian hoax they hatched. They kept having reporters ask him if he had met Putin. He played along and said he was not sure. But to be realistic, he knew. How many shirtless, bareback horse-riding, cold shark-eyed ex-KGB agents do you not remember?

Opinion: Work requirements increase bureaucracy more than accountability
When Republicans were looking for ways to reduce the cost of their One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB), one of the first offsets they incorporated was a federal work requirement for Medicaid.

-
Opinion: Work requirements are a common-sense reform
Medicaid is the government program that is supposed to help the poor afford health care.
