Chattanooga is among the stops for the national tour of “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” starring Tyler Perry in the title role.
The production launches today in El Paso, Texas, with stops in 50 cities through early May, including multiple nights in New York, Hollywood, Chicago and Atlanta, where Mr. Perry lives.
The Chattanooga engagement is scheduled Feb. 18 at Memorial Auditorium, according to his Web site, www.tylerperry.com. Ticket information has not been announced.
According to media reports, “Madea’s Big Happy Family” is Perry’s first theatrical tour in five years. At least two Tyler Perry productions have been presented at Memorial Auditorium previously: “What’s Done in the Dark” in November 2007 and “Madea’s Class Reunion” in May 2004.
The Madea character, which originated onstage, also has been featured in feature films, including “Madea’s Family Reunion” and “Madea Goes to Jail.”
