A little rain wasn’t going to stop Terri Sticker from seeing her favorite band perform Tuesday night at the Riverbend Festival.

The Turtletown, Tenn., resident has been to four Third Day concerts in less than a year, and she had been looking forward to seeing the band play on the Coca-Cola Stage for months. From her spot on the lawn directly in front of the stage, she waited for more than two hours in drizzly weather to see the band perform.

“A lot of their music is straight out of the Bible, and that’s why I like them so much,” Ms. Sticker said, adding she hoped to hear her favorite song, “Cry Out to Jesus.”

The Christian rock group opened the festival’s Faith and Family Night by playing “Otherside.”

Justin Smith, of Harrison, Tenn., has been listening to Third Day’s music for about six years and said his love of the group stems from the message behind the melodies. He described the band’s sound as “an alternative style — not too rocky, but not too soft.”
