Animal print balloons lined the way Saturday to the Chattanooga Zoo’s newest point of pride: a freshly remodeled exhibit, complete with two 1-year-old jaguar brothers.
Parents and children navigated the path to the exhibit in the zoo’s Corvocado Jungle, eager to see the feisty felines. When guests arrived, they found brothers Phil and Gene huddled together, each using the other as his own personal pillow.
“They’re big,” said Anna Goodrich, a 7-year-old visiting the zoo with her grandmother. “I think they might want to eat me.”
Anna, whose face was painted as a tiger, stared at the resting jaguars through the glass smeared with giant muddy paw prints — a sign that the pair had been a bit more active earlier in the day. Her grandmother, Janice Poe, said they came to see the zoo’s newest additions.
