The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga outscored No. 18 Georgia Southern 21-0 to open the second half and held on for a 35-27 win Saturday night.
The Mocs scored on their first possession of the third quarter when quarterback B.J. Coleman ran the ball in from 11 yards out, capping a 17-play drive that lasted more than nine minutes.
Moments later, defensive end Chris Donald forced a fumble that safety Chris Lewis-Harris recovered at the GSU 25. Four plays later, J.J. Jackson ran the ball in from the 3 to put UTC up 28-20.
UTC lead 35-20 when Georgia Southern scored late in the game. The Eagles held the Mocs and had a chance to drive for a tying touchdown, but the Mocs intercepted a pass to seal the win.
