CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Cleveland School Board members said Monday the selection process for a new director of schools gives neither an advantage nor disadvantage to any local candidates.
Local candidates should be considered equally, said board member Dawn Robinson.
“We wouldn’t exclude them for being local, but we wouldn’t include them because they are local,” she said.
But City Councilman George Poe, in a meeting later in the day, said the next director should be a local person.
“I will stick with hiring local people, hiring from within, instead of bringing people from out of town,” Poe said.
