Ten area players have been named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s 2015 all-state football teams for classes 2A and 1A. Nine of those are on the 2A team, including four from state runner-up Marion County and three from Region 3-2A champion Boyd-Buchanan.

All-state teams for the 3A and 4A classifications will be released today, followed by 5A and 6A on Thursday.

Those honored from Marion County are junior offensive lineman Logan Campbell, senior athlete Josh Henderson, senior kicker Christian Stephens and junior linebacker Alex Kirkendoll.

“The biggest thing is it’s great for our program,” Warriors coach Ricky Ross said. “Hopefully it means you’re developing kids and their hard work is paying off and gaining attention across the state.

“The greatest thing is that not all of them are leaving. Having two of those four back certainly helps.”

Joining them on the 2A team from Boyd-Buchanan are senior defensive lineman Jack Keebler, a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga commitment, senior linebacker Jake Harden and sophomore defensive back Kohl Henke. Also on the 2A list are Tyner senior linebacker Shannon Spralls and Sweetwater senior offensive lineman Bailey Byrum, while the lone 1A area representative is South Pittsburg senior running back Chase Blevins.

“It’s very exciting to have that many kids named all-state,” Boyd-Buchanan coach Grant Reynolds said. “It’s a testament to their hard work and says a lot about what an integral part of our team they were.

“It’s no surprise to have Jack and Jake on there as seniors and all they’ve accomplished, but I’m really happy to see a young guy like Kohl earn a spot. He brings a lot of leadership to us and works really hard on the field, so we’re expecting big things from him for the next couple of years.”
