The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team spent Sunday working on the little things that needed attention.
Saturday evening, though, was a moment for the Mocs to celebrate. To briefly reflect.
With every UTC player climbing the ladder and cutting a piece of the net at McKenzie Arena after a 77-66 win over Samford, one of the team’s primary goals had been accomplished – the Mocs secured at least a share of the Southern Conference regular-season championship.
But with one regular-season game remaining, the Mocs have more they’d like to do.
UTC (25-5, 14-3) plays at Virginia Military Institute (9-29, 4-13) tonight, the Mocs’ final game before this week’s SoCon tournament in Asheville, N.C., where they’ll be the No. 1 seed and have a bye into Saturday’s noon quarterfinal against the winner of the first-round matchup between Samford and VMI.
