The opener

High Meadows Communion is a folk/rock band of five lifelong friends and musicians. Formerly Our American Revolution, High Meadows Communion played its first show at The Camp House in the fall of 2013 and began recording soon after. Members are Noelle Alexander (vocals), Sam Anderson (backing vocals, acoustic guitar, piano), Wil Markham (vocals, bass, violin), Austin Sawyer (vocals, electric guitar) and Daniel Sawyer (drums, assorted percussion). Also featured is Dillon Hunneke (guitar, trumpet). Find out more at www.highmeadowscommunion.com.

Rock the Block

First Fridays during Nightfall also feature events from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn of the nearby Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E. M.L. King Blvd. On June 3, Neshawn Calloway will perform at 5 p.m., followed by the 6th Street Blues Band at 6 p.m. Two Volkswagen clubs — Scenic City Volks Folks and Stateline Wagens — will have a display of air-cooled, classic VWs on-site, including Bugs, Things, Buses and Karmann Ghias. Food, beverages and family activities will be available.

Since winning the annual Road to Nightfall competition back in March, Nick Lutsko has been busy doing the things most musicians do to get ready.

He is Nick Lutsko, however, so his prep for a headlining show at Nightfall involves more than just band rehearsals. He’s also arranged for a street parade featuring puppets, members of the Subterranean Cirqus, Chattanooga Fire Cabaret, art cars and bikes from Art 120 and a drum line of percussionists from various local bands.
