The body of a missing Soddy-Daisy teenage boy was found early Wednesday by Hamilton County deputies near the bottom of a bluff on Legget Road in Sale Creek, Tenn.

The teen was reported missing on Tuesday night, according to a press release by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Matt Lea, public information officer for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, declined to comment due to the active investigation.

Soddy-Daisy High School Principal Steve Henry released a statement Wednesday morning regarding the incident.

“A tragedy affected our Soddy- Daisy High School family,” he wrote. “As you may have heard, a 10th grade student was found early this morning. Law enforcement tells us he was found near a bluff on the Cumberland Trail. We have extra support staff available to our student body today, and will keep the extra counselors in place as long as they are needed. Please keep our school family in your thoughts and prayers.”
