A student at Sewanee: The University of the South has been indicted and arrested in connection with an arson fire at a fraternity house earlier this year, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said the agency worked with Tennessee Fire Investigation Services, the Sewanee Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the case.
The Feb. 24 fire was contained to a stage area inside the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house on the Sewanee campus.
On Friday the Franklin County Grand Jury indicted Philip Roper, 22, with one count of arson and one count of burning personal property, DeVine said.
Roper was arrested Monday and booked into the Franklin County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
