Lightning from severe storms yesterday is believed to have caused an apartment building to catch fire, according to a news release.
Chattanooga firefighters received the alarm at 10:08 p.m. and responded to Hidden Creek Apartments at 7710 E. Brainerd Road.
Smoke was visible when firefighters arrived on scene.
The firefighters saw signs of charring in an apartment on the first floor, but no actual fire. The entire building was evacuated as a precaution. The firefighters searched the apartments above as well as the attic, but no fire was found.
Small embers were found in a wall on the first floor and firefighters used a hose line to wet down the affected area. No injuries were reported. Firefighters used high-powered fans to ventilate the building.
