In the first few months since the Walker Theatre has been remodeled and redefined as an active concert venue, it has proven to continuously bring solid acts to music fans in Chattanooga. Now, as we begin to move out of the winter months, which are normally a little slower for live entertainment, the folks behind the 850-seat theater are heating things up with a lineup of top-notch talent coming in March.

Country artist Travis Tritt will appear at the intimate venue on Thursday, March 15, and his old friend and fellow country artist Marty Stuart is scheduled for Saturday, March 24. Then, the folk rock duo Indigo Girls will take the stage there on Thursday, March 29.

Two other acts will also be making their debut appearance at the Walker Theatre this month, and neither band is a stranger to Chattanooga. Both The Wood Brothers and Shovels & Rope have played in various local music settings over the years, and it will be exciting to see both of them transition to a theater setting.

The Wood Brothers recently released their sixth album, “One Drop of Truth,” which they have said is the freest and most independent album they have ever done. Brothers Oliver and Chris Wood, along with their newest member of a few years, Jano Rix, have played in Chattanooga throughout the years, from Track 29 and Revelry Room to the RiverRocks grand finale concert a few years ago. This time around, they will bring their Americana roots to the Walker Theatre stage on Friday, March 16.

Many people in Chattanooga have witnessed the quick rise of Charleston, South Carolina-based duo Shovels & Rope, from their start at JJ’s Bohemia, to their move to bigger audiences at Rhythm & Brews, and ultimately a sell-out concert at Track 29. Husband and wife Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent make a lot more noise than you would expect from a duo, and their lively show filled with folk-influenced Americana, rowdy country and twang is not one to be missed. They will close out the month at the Walker for a performance on Saturday, March 31.
