The Conasauga Ranger District is conducting a 670-acre controlled burn today in Walker County, Georgia, about 8 miles northeast of Resaca.
This is part of the same area that was intentionally burned March 22, but crews are treating missed areas and additional land, a news release states.
Such controlled burns are intended to reduce leaf litter, dead vegetation and other hazardous fuels to lessen the wildfire threat and improve conditions for wildlife.
