Your Tuesday at a glance:
- Weather: High of 77 and it’s likely to be quite a wet day with a 100% chance of rain/storms as the remains of Ida continue across the region.
- What’s musical: A local composer has crafted a piece to commemorate Chattanooga’s Second Presbyterian Church as the organization prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary this weekend.
- What’s great: These new Tennessee laws will allow more foster kids to participate in school sports.
- What’s impressive: This Lookout Mountain book club has been meeting for almost 100 years.
Good morning, Chattanooga!
Today I’m going to use this space to be thankful for/brag a little about the Times Free Press winning the top journalism award in the state for the seventh time in the last eight years.
Awards aren’t everything, but I hope it’s an indication that we’re putting in the work to keep our neighbors and community well informed in engaging and insightful ways.
From newsletters like this one to our daily physical and interactive digital versions of the paper and our continued commitment to keeping those in power accountable, I hope we strive every day to be innovative and useful for our community.
