Public Education Foundation awards $500 scholarship to Tyner graduate
Shanice Garner, a 2017 graduate of Tyner Academy and 2021 graduate of the University of Tennessee, has been awarded a scholarship from the Public Education Foundation.
Garner, a business administration graduate, will use the scholarship at Vanderbilt University this fall as she begins a master’s degree in finance. She previously attended the foundation’s Camp College and Step Up Chattanooga internship program and interned at EPB.
The $500 Empower Scholarship is named for Marie Webb, senior vice president and chief talent and inclusion officer at EPB, who served on the foundation’s board of directors from 2016-2021.
“PEF is easy to support because they work hard to close the talent gap for EPB and other Chattanooga employers,” Webb said in a news release. “I am so honored that this scholarship inclusively supports rising young professionals like Shanice Garner to help her realize her incredible potential.”
