Several residents were displaced after a kitchen fire destroyed multiple units of an apartment building Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Fire crews responded to a report of a fire at Rustic Village Apartments at 510 Central Drive shortly after 1:30 p.m. When crews arrived, they found “light smoke inside one of the buildings in the complex,” the release stated.
It was determined through investigation a fire in the kitchen of one unit spread to the ceiling and the walls of adjacent units. Residents of 16 units were displaced by the fire due to the damage sustained to the building, which included smoke, water and electrical damage, according to authorities.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
