Police searching for missing Chattanooga woman Jasmine Pace

Chattanooga police are looking for Jasmine "Jazzy" Pace, 22, who was reported missing Sunday after she had not been seen or heard from since early last week.

Pace's mother tracked her car, which was found at the Signal View condominium complex at 900 Mountain Creek Road, longtime family friend and former neighbor Bailey Putman said in a phone interview.

The family has been able to track the location of Pace's white Chevy Equinox over the past month, and it had not been driven to the complex during that time period, said Putman, who is not aware of any other connection Pace may have at the complex.

"Any information on the Jasmine Pace case is being held right now due to the ongoing investigation," Sydney Hamon, public information officer for the Chattanooga Police Department, said by email Tuesday afternoon.

Pace lives with her family and typically stays in close contact, Putman said.

"She never goes a day without speaking to any one of them," she said.

The family believes she may be with male friend Jason Chen. Pace shared her location with her mother at 2:18 a.m. Nov. 23 on her cellphone from Chen's apartment near Tremont Street and Frazier Avenue in North Chattanooga, Putman said.

Neither Putman nor members of Pace's family have met Chen, whom Pace became friends with in May, Putman said.

"It is someone she is familiar with," Putman said of Chen, adding that he was "probably more than a friend," but they were not dating exclusively.

Pace did not date often and had no other recent boyfriends, Putman said.

"We are trying to step back for a second and let the police and the FBI do their job," Putman said. "We obviously are very grateful for having a larger amount of resources available to us now with (the FBI) being a large part of the investigation. Our main focus is just to bring Jazzy home."

Groups of people have been searching the Frazier Avenue and Tremont Street area as well as the area near Signal View condominiums, she said, adding that people who choose to search should do so safely and go with at least one other person.
