Authorities in Sequatchie County, Tennessee, have formed a task force comprised of local, state and federal investigators to focus on the 2018 missing person case of Matthew Tyler Henry.
Foul play was suspected early in the Dayton Police Department case, but no productive leads developed. The trail kept growing colder as investigators sought to learn what happened to the 29-year-old man last seen April 15, 2018, in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply store on the south end of town, according to authorities.
“We feel now we’re at the point where we can lean in with as many resources as we can come up with here to work with the Dunlap Police Department,” Sequatchie County Sheriff Bill Phillips said Thursday at a news conference announcing the task force. “There’s a lot of work ahead of us. You’re digging up a lot of things that are 5 years old or older at this point, so it takes a special touch to try to make sure you’re doing things right, so that’s why we’re wanting this task force in place so we help ensure that gets done and so we get the most out of each one of those leads we’ll be following up on.”
Phillips said some investigators are familiar with the case, while new investigators will offer fresh eyes.
