There are not many things Bradley Central High School girls’ basketball coach Jason Reuter has not seen in his legendary career, but what sophomore Kimora Fields and junior TaTianna Stovall did in Tuesday’s 100-64 road win over Chattanooga Christian is something he can’t ever recall witnessing.
On a court littered with future Division I talents for both sides, the Bearettes dominated in the paint with the 6-foot Fields and 6-foot-1 Stovall, combining for 31 of their team’s 56 rebounds.
Fields showcased her toughness at one point by snatching an offensive rebound and going through two players on the left baseline through hard contact on her way to an old-fashioned 3-point play. The reigning state tournament MVP finished with 35 points (15-of-20 FG), 17 rebounds and three blocks to help Bradley Central improve to 7-0 this season.
“Everyone knows Kimora gets a lot of touches in the paint, but she is hard to stop,” Reuter said. “They had a plan to deny her, but her physicality wears people down. TaTianna was strong tonight too with 23 points and 14 rebounds. I don’t think I can recall a game where we had 56 rebounds. That’s a lot. But we scored very quickly tonight and that gave CCS a lot of shots and possessions.”
