The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team struggled to make shots and prevent Lipscomb from making them Tuesday in an 80-62 loss at McKenzie Arena, halting a five-game win streak.
The game was the second of two in the Atlantic Sun-Southern Conference challenge. The Mocs also lost 67-61 to Austin Peay on Nov. 11 in Clarksville.
The Mocs (5-4) never looked comfortable offensively against a physical Bison squad, and although they committed just nine turnovers, one came on a shot-clock violation and the shots they did get were mostly contested. UTC shot just 45% from the field and made six 3-pointers on the evening, with only Bash Wieland reaching double figures with 21 points.
The starting guard tandem of Trey Bonham and Honor Huff had just 12 points combined and was 5-for-14 from the field.
Things weren’t much better on the defensive end, where the Bison (5-4) shot 58% from the field, including a 61-percent mark in the second half when they went on a 15-4 spurt to assume complete control of the contest.
