Two clubs responsible for major growth in soccer’s popularity in the Southeast region will face off in a must-see friendly at Finley Stadium to begin preparation for the 2025 campaign.
For the third time, Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United FC will travel to the Scenic City to take on MLS NEXT Pro’s Chattanooga FC, as the two will meet on January 25 with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
Both clubs have earned a great deal of notoriety since they debuted.
Atlanta United’s first-ever match, albeit a preseason one, came in a 4-0 friendly victory over Chattanooga FC in front of 12,484 fans at Finley Stadium on February 11, 2017. Josef Martinez was just beginning the rise of his stardom as he scored in the friendly.
Just a year later, Atlanta United won the MLS Cup in their second season with a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers in front of over 73,000 fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 8, 2018.
