Most Chattanooga voters will have a choice of candidates during the March 4 city elections.

Twenty-five people vying for 10 elected offices — Chattanooga’s mayor and the nine seats on the city council — qualified to appear on the ballot for the March race, according to a list published by the Hamilton County Election Commission.

The deadline to qualify was Thursday at noon. Candidates have until Dec. 26 at noon to withdraw from the race, and the election commission is set to vote on approving the ballots during a Jan. 15 meeting.

Hamilton County Administrator of Elections Scott Allen said by phone that the number of candidates contesting the March elections is on par with past years.

“It’s typical for a city election, especially for districts where there’s no incumbent running,” Allen said. “Those districts always tend to get a lot of attention.”
