‘Dismantling’ is easier said than done
In the final paragraph of last Sunday’s front-page story, headlined “Dismantling Defined,” you quote state Sen. Bo Watson saying, “the states are saying, ‘We think we can do this a better way. We may not know what the better way looks like, but we think we can do it a better way.'”
It reminded me of Donald Trump saying that he has a “concept of a plan” to replace the Affordable Care Act. It is very easy to attack a government program or agency as being inefficient or unnecessary. It is much more difficult to create an effective policy. I would encourage all our Republican legislators to develop a concrete blueprint of the replacement before they eliminate the Department of Education or any other agency.
