A fire at a senior living community in Signal Mountain damaged its dining hall and kitchen Monday morning, but it did not harm any residents, according to officials.

Alexian Village residents were evacuated from their apartments after the fire started shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management. Around 450 people live at the campus, according to the release.

Electricity was restored to apartments around 11:30 a.m., officials said.

When the fire was reported to 911, the caller said it may have started from a lightning strike as thunderstorms rolled over the mountain Monday morning. A fire investigation was requested to determine the cause.
