The Chattanooga Lookouts are now probably eyeing 2026 before baseball begins in their planned new South Broad District ballpark, officials said Thursday.

“I’d hope we move into the facility by then, but as far as baseball goes, we’re probably looking at 2026,” Rich Mozingo, the Lookouts president, said in an interview. “It’s still to be determined. We’re working on finalizing and getting everything into place to allow us to begin.”

Andy Stone, representing the owner of the old foundry property where the proposed $115 million stadium is to be built, agreed it’s probably looking more like 2026 for baseball to start than sometime in 2025, which an earlier plan called for.

Groundbreaking on the new ballpark is now the goal for sometime next month, he said in an interview at a meeting of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Sports Authority.
