Here’s what’s happening this week in the Chattanooga area.
Thanksgiving tidbits
Looking at Google search results from last November, BetTennessee.com has determined the most popular side dishes of Tennessee residents. Stuffing was first, followed by macaroni and cheese in second place, with green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole tied for third and mashed potatoes finishing fifth.
— Ducktown in Polk County has been voted Tennessee’s top Thanksgiving road trip destination for families this year and second in the nation. Gunther Motor Co. carried out a survey of 3,000 families to uncover the 125 most sought-after Thanksgiving destinations. Hāna on the eastern shore of Maui, Hawaii, was first for its 64-mile stretch of coastal views. Ducktown landed at No. 2 for the scenery along U.S. Route 64 near the Ocoee River. Helen, Georgia, came in at No. 3. Fort Payne, Alabama, made the list at 96 and Double Springs in northwest Alabama was 42. Also on the list were the Tennessee cities of Gatlinburg (13) and Townsend (91). Other Georgia destinations were Tallapoosa (52) and Clayton (55).
