Let’s handle our business.

› Rushmore of Boone – Lots of great suggestions here, but Boone, N.C. (home of App State) will not be on the list. The reason is simple. Almost a decade ago, when I was starting out writing A2 columns in the TFP on a wide variety of subjects, Chattanooga faced Boone in an online contest for “Best Outdoor City” in the country. I may or may not have written a sarcastic column that may or may not – it did, believe me – have half of the 19,000 Boone residents emailing me on the hour. Here’s the column.

Rushmore is Daniel, Boone from Animal House – “Forget it, he’s rolling” – Pat Boone and boondoggle.

› Rushmore of the best all-time NBA second bananas – Scottie Pippin, Klay Thompson, Kareem (Yes, one of the names in the GOAT conversation was a second banana in his twilight years with the Showtime Lakers), Dr. J (and again, at the peak of the 76ers powers in the 1980s, Moses Malone was the alpha, Julius was his running mate).
