The Texas Longhorns are finally ready to play SEC football.

Three years after announcing its move from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference, the University of Texas will kick off its first league schedule Saturday at home against Mississippi State (1-3, 0-1). The Longhorns (4-0) will do so as the country’s top-ranked college football team, holding the top spot in the AP Top 25 poll for the second week in a row.

“It’s here,” Texas senior defensive back Jahdae Barron said. “It’s going to be amazing.”

SEC Network will televise the 4:15 p.m. Eastern matchup in Austin.

“You know this is the baby NFL,” Texas receiver Johntay Cook said. “That’s what they call it.”
